The name Catbrid Cooking was born out of love. Love for both of my family’s two black cats and my husband’s love for birding. Although cats and birds may not necessarily be paired together naturally, they both bring us together as a family. There is also a species of bird called a Catbird, which nests around our house. On lazy summer days, we listen to its distinctive call as we relax, spend time together, laugh, and, of course, cook and eat together. In essence, Catbird is about love and how we express it through food and family.
I am a recipe tester, developer, and food writer in New York. As a culinary student, I focused on developing nutritious, budget-friendly, and adaptable recipes to accommodate various diets and food allergies. I am committed to sourcing healthy, local, and seasonal foods, and I am known never to pass up a farmer’s market! As part of my culinary training, I studied in Provence, France, where I learned about sustainable farming and cooking practices. Concurrently, I worked in a restaurant that earned a green Michelin star for sustainability under a two Michelin-starred chef. I am committed to passing along what I learned by helping to educate others about how to easily and practically reduce food waste.
Enjoy,
Stefanie!
